Spectrum Underwriting Managers, Inc. is pleased to announce that Mike Griffin has joined its team as Vice President of Underwriting. Mike’s hiring comes in the wake of Rodney Garrison’s June 30th retirement and Beth Freeman’s recent move to Companion Life Insurance Company as AVP of Underwriting, Accident & Health.
Mike Griffin joins Spectrum after a 13-year stint with Zurich North America in a variety of stop loss underwriting and management positions. Prior to his time at Zurich, Mike worked for CNA, IOA Re and the Mutual Group, dating back to 1990. He brings a wealth of stop loss underwriting and management experience to Spectrum and will be responsible for managing Spectrum’s sizable stop loss block and its team of 11 underwriters. Mike’s working relationship with Spectrum began in 2006 when Spectrum initially contracted with Zurich American Insurance Company.
Kurt Ridder, Spectrum’s President, said, “Spectrum is fortunate to land Mike – his industry experience and our mutual familiarity make for a perfect match. Underwriting is about so much more than just technical skill – it’s about management ability, understanding the market at the street level, and having a keen sense of what producers need to be successful. Mike brings all of that to Spectrum.”
